Berger Kahn Expands Corporate and Employment Capabilities Five Associates Also Join Berger Kahn Irvine, CA -- Berger Kahn, a full-service law firm, announced today the addition of partner Rick Karch and of-counsel Blair Roberts to its corporate and employment practices. Five associates also have joined the firm. Rick Karch, previously a partner with Larsen & Risley, has more than 30 years of experience in corporate, tax and estate planning in connection with domestic and international transactions. He practices in the areas of entity formations, operations, crisis management and dispute resolution; capital structuring and finance sourcing; securities offerings; business continuity and benefits planning; corporate governance and regulatory compliance; business valuations and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Rick graduated from Princeton University with a B.S.E, and received his J.D. from USC Law School. He holds a LL.M in Taxation from the University of San Diego and a M.B.A. in Finance from Harvard Business School. He is also a CPA and holds licenses in real estate brokerage; life, health and disability insurance; and NASD (FINRA) Series 7 and 63 securities. Blair Roberts has extensive experience in virtually all aspects of employment law. Blair represents employers and employees in all types of employment disputes including wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour disputes. He also advises employers on their day-to-day operations in connection with hiring and firing, discipline, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), and other employment related issues. Blair is a graduate of Arizona State University and Western State University College of Law, where he graduated with honors. Dominique Tauzin has joined the Los Angeles office as an associate. Brieanna Dolmage concentrates her practice on business litigation, real estate, intellectual property and insurance matters. She received her J.D. from Whittier Law School in 2007 and her B.S. in 2003 from the University of California, Irvine. While at Whittier, she was on the Dean's List for two years, received a Dean's Merit Scholarship, and was the recipient of a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Contracts and Law Review. She also was a member of Law Review and is the author of "The Evolution of Patentable Subject Matter in the United States," 27 Whittier L.R. 1023 (2006). Christy Han concentrates her practice on insurance coverage and general litigation. She has taken and defended more than 30 depositions, successfully prepared and argued numerous contested motions, and examined witnesses at trial and mediation. Christy also has been involved in negotiating various types of settlements. Christy graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in May 2006 and received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, where she graduated magna cum laude, was the recipient of four academic scholarships, and completed her undergraduate studies one year early. Howard Hirsch has more than 18 years of insurance industry experience, including 12 years as a coverage attorney representing two major property and casualty insurers. He has extensive experience in litigation management, bad faith claims, and multi-jurisdictional litigation. Howard received his J.D. from Western State University College of Law and his B.A. from the University of Arizona. Matthew Stein has a broad-based litigation practice. He has extensive experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents in connection with state, federal and appellate cases. He also has mediated complex cases, conducted oral argument and taken and defended depositions. Matthew has represented clients in a wide range of matters including insurance, entertainment, corporate, real estate and regulatory matters. Matthew received his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 2004, where he was president of the Student Bar Association, a member of the Interscholastic Trial Advocacy Honors Program, and a student representative on the University Board of Directors. He earned his B.S. from the University of California, Irvine. Dominique Tauzin focuses her practice on insurance coverage and business litigation. Dominique began her legal career in New York where she served as legislative counsel to the New York State Assembly. She drafted legislation in several areas of law, namely civil procedure, criminal, insurance and environmental conservation law. She left the legislature to join the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division as a senior appellate court attorney where she worked on both civil and criminal appeals. She also has experience handling criminal appeals as a court assigned counsel. Dominique received her J.D. in 2001 from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where she was co- Editor-In-Chief of the Hastings Women's Law Journal. She received her undergraduate degree in 1991 from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Following graduation, she was a biomedical research assistant at Cornell Medical College for several years.
